The Future of AR

As amazing as AR is the system is far from complete. AR has many kinks that need to be worked out before it can reach its full potential. The display technology is not up to par, though the use of AR on mobile devices has improved it is still poor, and AR still relies greatly on cloud technologies minimizing AR’s full abilities.

Even though AR has yet to reach its full potential it is still improving. AR’s many uses are increasing in multiple areas which include medical uses, digital marketing, location and many other areas.

AR can improve the medical field by showing surgeons live images of their patients and AR allows people to try on samples of glasses to see which prescriptions work for them.

Digital marketing is tremendously growing with AR allowing the customer to observe company products at home or on the go. Not only that gaming advertisements and street marketing will allow customers to interact with companies anywhere.

The location also plays a big role in AR when it comes to promotions. AR can also be used to as a GPS giving information to the user’s relative location to restaurants, gas stations, schools and so on.

One area of AR that is evolving rapidly is the use smart glasses. Smart glasses allow workers, students, shoppers, and so on in using AR. While wearing the glasses, the user can experience anything from videos, store and restaurant reviews just considering their environment. Smart glasses are not perfect, though. The smart glasses markets are very fragmented with many different hardware form factors, different operating systems, and different data formats with many different capabilities ranging far and wide. In the future, many of these platforms will merge so that smart glasses can operate over many devices and connect existing back ends that many enterprises have.

AR is like many technological systems that are changing our world for the better. With many innovations, overtime AR can reach its full potential leaving the future for AR bright.
